My concern would be that it is currently being (mis)used by individuals sympathetic to Mrs Thatcher to portray her as the "Saviour of the Nation" (to borrow from the Daily Mail). As you say, this is not the time or place to debate her economic and social legacy (there are good and bad aspects to it, but for me the bad outweighs the good).
I'm old enough to remember Thatcher's premiership (and some time before it), and she would never have claimed to be a feminist. So whichever idiot is trying to portray her in that light is barking up a tree Thatcher would never have gone near. The only aspect I can see any logic in is a raising of the "glass ceiling" for other women, but I suspect Blair achieved more in that direction than Thatcher.

JamesdarAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829162137963866383.post-20415838634172900412013-04-08T07:56:08.718-07:002013-04-08T07:56:08.718-07:00Tend to agree. Some by opposition and some because they saw a woman PM. Very odd and muddled effect.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829162137963866383.post-12043802088048735532013-04-08T07:39:51.175-07:002013-04-08T07:39:51.175-07:00Well said, it frustrates me greatly when misinform...Well said, it frustrates me greatly when misinformed young women cite her as an inspiration,to me she was a right wing PM who happened to be a Woman.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
